Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The stats of an item can be improved through upgrading it, also referred to as "upping". Each upgrade increment increases the stat linearly.
Players can recycle six items at a time to gauge the upgraded component of each item. The cost of recycling items scales depending on their rarity and level.
Upgrade components
In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade of an item can be a method to boost the stats of your weapons and armor. This can be achieved through a variety of methods, including by using upgrade components or increasing an item's rarity or mark level. The number of upgrade components required for a given item is displayed in the upper-right corner of the window for upgrading. The cost of an upgrade increases with the level of the upgrade and its rarity, but can be reduced through various methods, such as buying upgrades from a vendor or trading them with other players.
Most weapons can be improved with a prefix, like a rune or an insignia. Some can be upgraded with a suffix. These upgrades add an adjective to the name of the item like "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".
Glyphs

Each glyph increases a stat's value by a certain amount. This is clearly displayed on the item, when you open it in the Glyph Storage. item upgrader is the highest value that a glyph can improve a stat by and not the amount it actually improves the stat by. The value of the glyph will depend on the tier and quality of the item you are admiring.
The majority of upgrade components that are slotted into items cannot be repaired or replaced without dismantling the equipment in question, with the exception of legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a glyph or rune you don't want to use but it hasn't been applied to the gear yet, you can move the item to a different piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu on the Glyphs Panel. This will create a new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.
You can take out any glyph with the help of the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item will be destroyed within which it is placed but you will be able to salvage the upgraded item with the glyph and its fragments, so this should not be considered a loss.
When you take away an item after adding a glyph, the shards of that glyph will disappear. You can also apply an inscription to your equipment to add a bonus. For instance the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and distribute it slowly rather than all at once. This is helpful for those who take lots of damage from their enemies but don't want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens let players alter the affixes they use on their equipment and weapons, and can be found in various ways such as in mistery boxes, as rare drops from skulled creatures, or even from killing bosses. Every reroll grants the player an affix randomly chosen and usually better than what they had before. Reroll tokens can also be used to improve the weapon's stats to increase damage or bonuses.
Items that have been rerolled will not appear in the item upgrade menu, however, they are still eligible to receive upgrades. By pressing the "upgrade button", you can recycle the rerolled items. This will alter the layout of the item's window, and allow up to six items to be chosen to recycle. Recycling an item adds a small amount of points to its level gauge. This amount is determined by the item's rarity as well as its level. Therefore, items that are higher level are more valuable for recycling than lower-leveled ones.
Players can also make use of Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to roll rerolling Weapon Traits to upgrade units. Rerolls roll the percentage chance of a weapon trait; if it rolls higher, the weapon is upgraded, and if it rolls lower, it remains the same. Weapons can be rerolled up to three times.

Leveling
